Connect with an international student
Many of our international students have expressed interest in spending time with an American family during their time as a student here in America, in order to practice their language, learn about American culture, to simply see how things are done differently in America as compared to their home. We at the BCM see this as one of our greatest desires, to connect these students with host American families. We are looking for 1000 families that would be willing to open their homes to a single student, or to a single international student’s family (Many of them are visiting scholars that bring their families to live with them while they study) at least once a month. Notice, this is a greater commitment than simply Thanksgiving or Christmas. Doing this is easier than you might think. We are wanting to begin this during the fall semester of 2019. We will be offering several opportunities for you to attend a one-time training event, to be hosted here at the BCM building (819 Main St. Columbia, SC). These one-night trainings will be hosted on June 25, July 30 & August 15. Each training will start at 6pm & dinner will be provided. So, set your calendar, get signed up & plan to attend just one of these nights. If you’d like to sign up to be a volunteer, fill out the information below & submit it. We look forward to serving with you all in the future!
